THX est né chez Lucasfilm en 1983 — initié par Tomlinson Holman à la suite d'une expérience amère : constater qu'un même film, soigneusement masterisé en studio, sonnait étonnamment autrement en salle. Il en est sorti un programme de certification qui ne définit pas une couleur sonore mais un ensemble d'exigences techniques minimales — du master studio jusqu'à la restitution des enceintes en salle. Pour le home cinéma, THX s'est mué au fil des ans en standard à part entière, avec des paliers comme THX Select, THX Ultra et, enfin, THX Dominus.

Une plaque THX Certified a sa place dans une pièce où le home cinéma a été construit en visant délibérément un standard de certification technique. Propriétaires d'une configuration d'enceintes certifiée THX Select, THX Ultra ou THX Dominus. Constructeurs home cinéma qui savent ce que chaque palier THX exige concrètement en headroom, distorsion et comportement de dispersion. Cinéphiles qui ont compris que « certifié THX » n'est pas un tampon marketing mais une exigence mesurable.

L'endroit idéal : au-dessus de la porte de ta salle, dans l'entrée ou à côté de l'écran. Si tu tiens au THX, tu l'associes très probablement à d'autres standards du cinéma — jette un œil aussi à nos plaques Dolby Atmos, DTS:X et IMAX.

    I purchased these for a gift, and am very happy with my purchase. Items were just as expected. The arrival time was about a week after the expected delivery date estimation…but it was still faster than I expected considering I am in California, it was ordered during the holidays, and there are also shipping delays on everything nowadays. I would not hesitate to be a return customer.

    These plaques are legit! The front of the plaque captures the look, color and feel of the original plaques that you see in movie theaters. I am a Gen X’r that remembers that glorious THX movie intro with rumbling thunderous sound in theaters and this adds a unique touch to any serious home theater buff. They are made of aluminum sheets with a smooth finish on back with no hangers or hooks. You need to use 3M double sided tape or velcro to position them on your wall. Only thing I wish was for them to be a tad thicker to give them a more authentic feel. The aluminum plaque is about the thickness of a typical car key.

    I ordered these as a gift for my husband. They did not arrive in time for Christmas which is completely understandable given the global supply chain issues. The seller was responsive and offered to allow me to cancel when the delay became evident. My husband was delighted with his little “Christmas in January” and is raving about the good quality!
