Dolby Vision is the dynamic-metadata HDR format that lifted home cinema from a single static tone map to scene-by-scene optimisation — and since Dolby's brand refresh around 2020, the format wears the contemporary identity now stamped on premium TVs, projectors, UHD disc menus and streaming platforms. Where HDR10 ships one curve for the whole film, Dolby Vision carries instructions per scene, mastered up to 12-bit. The result is what you actually see at the studio reference monitor — translated to the panel or projector in front of you.
A Dolby Vision sign belongs in a room where the picture isn't left to default settings. Owners of JVC or Sony native-4K projectors with Dolby Vision player-LED. UHD enthusiasts who deliberately favour the Dolby Vision track over HDR10 in the disc menu.
