LG was founded in South Korea in 1947 — and today, alongside Samsung, is one of the country's two largest electronics conglomerates. For the home cinema, the brand is relevant primarily for one reason: OLED. Since launching the first OLED TVs in 2013, LG has effectively brought that display standard into living rooms on its own — the G, C and M Series produce mid-to-upper-tier home-cinema images against which direct competitors have to measure themselves.

An LG sign belongs in a room where the picture is defined by OLED. Owners of a G3 or G4 Series, a C4 model, or an M Series with Zero Connect. Cinephiles who can tell OLED black from LED black — and who only count the former as "real black".
