Christie VDR — Variable Dynamic Range — is the patented frame-by-frame laser modulation technology Christie introduced to its CineLife+ RealLaser cinema projectors in 2026. Behind the licensed software upgrade sits a real engineering jump: the projector analyses every frame in real time, modulates output laser power per frame, and lifts on-screen contrast from typical digital-cinema levels to 10,000:1 with the UHC lens — or up to 60,000:1 sequential in HDR content. As a side effect, laser power draw drops by up to 30 % and lamp life extends accordingly.

A Christie VDR sign belongs in a room where the projector is the technical heart of the build. Owners of a CineLife+ RealLaser projector running VDR in a dedicated cinema. Home-cinema builders working with installer-grade RGB laser hardware. Cinephiles who follow what the major festivals project with — and chose to bring that technology home.

The natural spot: on the rear wall of the cinema room behind the seats, in the projection room, or in the equipment area. If you run Christie VDR, you most likely paired it with a reference screen and image-processing chain — take a look at our Stewart Filmscreen, madVR and Trinnov signs as well.
