THX è nato in Lucasfilm nel 1983 — voluto da Tomlinson Holman dopo un'esperienza amara: rendersi conto che lo stesso film, masterizzato con cura in studio, suonava sorprendentemente diverso al cinema. Ne è uscito un programma di certificazione che non definisce un colore sonoro ma un insieme di requisiti tecnici minimi — dal master di studio fino alla resa dei diffusori in sala. Per l'home cinema, negli anni THX si è trasformato in uno standard a sé, con livelli come THX Select, THX Ultra e infine THX Dominus.

Una targa THX Certified ha senso in una stanza in cui l'home cinema è stato costruito puntando in modo deliberato a uno standard di certificazione tecnica. Proprietari di una configurazione di diffusori certificata THX Select, THX Ultra o THX Dominus. Costruttori home cinema che sanno cosa richiede concretamente ciascun livello THX in termini di headroom, distorsione e comportamento di dispersione. Cinefili che hanno capito che "certificato THX" non è un timbro di marketing ma un requisito misurabile.

Il punto naturale: sopra la porta della sala, nell'ingresso o accanto allo schermo. Se tieni a THX, è molto probabile che lo affianchi ad altri standard del cinema — dai un'occhiata anche alle nostre targhe Dolby Atmos, DTS:X e IMAX.

    I purchased these for a gift, and am very happy with my purchase. Items were just as expected. The arrival time was about a week after the expected delivery date estimation…but it was still faster than I expected considering I am in California, it was ordered during the holidays, and there are also shipping delays on everything nowadays. I would not hesitate to be a return customer.

    These plaques are legit! The front of the plaque captures the look, color and feel of the original plaques that you see in movie theaters. I am a Gen X’r that remembers that glorious THX movie intro with rumbling thunderous sound in theaters and this adds a unique touch to any serious home theater buff. They are made of aluminum sheets with a smooth finish on back with no hangers or hooks. You need to use 3M double sided tape or velcro to position them on your wall. Only thing I wish was for them to be a tad thicker to give them a more authentic feel. The aluminum plaque is about the thickness of a typical car key.

    I ordered these as a gift for my husband. They did not arrive in time for Christmas which is completely understandable given the global supply chain issues. The seller was responsive and offered to allow me to cancel when the delay became evident. My husband was delighted with his little “Christmas in January” and is raving about the good quality!
