The Original — Made in Germany
The original — accept no imitations. CineSigns invented this category — widely copied across the web, but every original is conceived and made in Germany.

MartinLogan was founded in 1983 in Lawrence, Kansas, by Gayle Sanders and Ron Logan to build something almost nobody else had figured out how to mass-produce: a curved-line-source electrostatic loudspeaker. The CLS — Curvilinear Line Source — panel that defined the brand is still at the centre of the Renaissance, Expression and Impression ESL series today, paired with a dynamic woofer section that handles what no electrostatic membrane can move. The result is a stereo image that radiates like a line array and a midrange that sounds, depending on the recording, like the singer is standing in front of you.

A MartinLogan sign belongs in a room where the speakers are the architecture. Owners of the Renaissance ESL, Expression ESL, or the smaller Motion-XT series. Listeners who know how to set up dipole radiation and didn't choose ESL by accident. People for whom "transparent" describes the cabinet, the membrane, and the sound at the same time.

The natural spot: in the listening room facing the panels, on the front wall above the rack, or in the dedicated audio space where the speakers were toed in carefully. If you run MartinLogan, you most likely chose your amplification and bass extension with as much intent — take a look at our McIntosh, Anthem and REL signs as well.
