Laserdisc was, from 1978 to the late 1990s, the home-cinema disc that brought picture and sound quality comparable to the cinema into the living room for the first time — and in many serious home cinemas of the late 80s and 90s was considered the source of choice. Before DVD, before Dolby Digital in a home-cinema container and long before the streaming era, Laserdisc made home-cinema culture possible: 30 cm analogue-encoded image carriers with digital surround sound, many of which still sit in the collections of classic home-cinema builders today.
A Laserdisc sign belongs in a room where the home-cinema history before 1996 hasn't been forgotten. Collectors of working Laserdisc players. Cinephiles whose libraries hold 30 cm discs alongside current UHD Blu-rays. Listeners who can tell the analogue picture aesthetic of an LD master from the razor-sharp digital playback of today's discs — and value both for their own reasons.
The natural spot: on the cinema-room wall, in the collection area, or next to the disc library. If you value Laserdisc, you most likely pair it with other heritage home-cinema brands — take a look at our Dolby Digital Legacy, Nakamichi and Pioneer signs as well.
