REL Sign

REL was founded in the United Kingdom in 1990 — and is the subwoofer brand that comes not from the home cinema but from the hi-fi listening room. The signature feature is the high-level connection, where the sub plugs into the speaker-amplifier output directly — not via RCA, not via LFE. The goal isn't effect-driven pressure but a sub that disappears completely behind the main speaker and quietly returns the missing bottom octave to the stereo image.

A REL sign belongs in a room where the speakers are supposed to make music, not a sound system. Owners of a Reference No. 31 or No. 25, a T/x or S/x configuration, or a Carbon Special. Listeners who have no use for 18 Hz extension if it doesn't blend cleanly with a compact stand-mount. Audiophiles who deliberately don't want to hear their sub.
