Definitive Technology was founded in 1990 in Owings Mills, Maryland — and added a category of its own to American speaker design: tower speakers with built-in powered subwoofers. The BP and SuperTower series defined what serious home-cinema builders looked at when they didn't want separate sub cabinets — and their low-end performance set the standard for the integrated tower for years. Today part of the Sound United family (with Marantz, Denon and Polk), the brand carries its design heritage into the Demand and Dymension generations.
A Definitive Technology sign belongs in a room where the main speakers bring the bottom end with them. Owners of a BP-9000 or Demand configuration, a SuperTower setup, or a Dymension home-cinema package. Listeners who care more about the tonal coherence of tower-plus-built-in-sub than about the flexibility of a separate low-frequency chain.
The natural spot: in the cinema room facing the seats, on the wall of the AV rack, or next to the AV receiver. If you run Definitive Technology, you most likely chose your AVR and cabling carefully too — take a look at our Denon, Marantz and AudioQuest signs as well.
