Audyssey Laboratories was founded in 2002 in Los Angeles by Tomlinson Holman — the engineer behind THX — and Chris Kyriakakis of the University of Southern California's Immersive Audio Lab. What started as a USC research project became the room-correction technology you find inside Denon, Marantz, NAD and Onkyo receivers, in tiers from 2EQ through MultEQ XT to MultEQ XT32. The promise: a room that doesn't fight the gear in it, calibrated from one measurement microphone and eight listening positions.
An Audyssey sign belongs in a room where the correction is part of the chain. Owners of an Audyssey-equipped Denon AVR-X3800H, Marantz Cinema 50, or any of the dozens of AVRs that ship with MultEQ on board. Users who actually run the calibration — and who know the MultEQ Editor App is where the real adjustments happen. Listeners for whom "flat" is a starting point, not a destination.
The natural spot: in the equipment rack beside the receiver, on the wall behind the seats where the calibration mic stood, or above the AV stack. If you run Audyssey, you've already let measurement into the room — take a look at our Denon, Marantz and Trinnov signs as well.
