JL Audio was founded in Florida in 1975 by James Birch and Lucio Proni — and over the following decades wrote its own benchmark in subwoofer design. Coming out of the car-audio world, JL Audio defined the in-vehicle subwoofer category with its W6 and W7 drivers — and brought the same construction philosophy into the listening room with the Fathom and Gotham home-cinema subs.
