The Original — Made in Germany
The original — accept no imitations. CineSigns invented this category — widely copied across the web, but every original is conceived and made in Germany.

Acoustic Research was founded in 1952 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, by Edgar Villchur and Henry Kloss — and with the AR-1 (1954) changed the loudspeaker world: the first commercial acoustic-suspension speaker, a design that nearly every modern loudspeaker has inherited in some form. With the AR-3a, the AR-XA turntable line and a programme that helped shape American hi-fi through the 1960s and 70s, Acoustic Research stands among the names without which today's audio landscape would look different.

An Acoustic Research sign belongs in a room where the roots of modern hi-fi are taken seriously. Owners of an original AR-3, AR-LST or AR-XA. Collectors whose system dates from an era when "stereo" was still a new concept. Listeners who know what Edgar Villchur means to loudspeaker design.

The natural spot: in the listening room at the hi-fi rack, in the display case next to the turntable, or in the collection area. If you own Acoustic Research, you most likely pair it with other heritage brands — take a look at our Marantz, Nakamichi and Pioneer signs as well.
